01 Our Legacy: The Past

Founded by Dr. Carolyn Lankford, a veteran educator with over 20 years of experience, our center started as a small after-school tutoring initiative designed to address the gaps in public education. It quickly grew to include in-home tutoring and, later, a physical location to meet the increasing demand.

Despite losing this facility during the pandemic, Dr. Lankford spearheaded a successful transition to virtual learning, enabling the graduation of 15 students in a challenging year.

Today, Education & Services Unlimited (ESU) operates with a renewed focus under the leadership of Executive Director David Gaines. Building on a rich foundation laid by our founder, Dr. Lankford, ESU Prep offers personalized academic support, homeschool partnerships, enrichment programs, and test prep services.

We’ve expanded our offerings to serve a wider range of learners—from early elementary to high school—while maintaining small group sizes and individualized instruction. Our brand now reflects our bold vision and commitment to excellence: academic integrity, cultural inclusivity, and measurable success.

From our signature tutoring approach to our parent partnership programs, everything we do centers on student achievement and family empowerment.
